VoltDelta & Dial Directions Intro Voice Activated Driving Directions

By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor

Call center solutions provider VoltDelta (News - Alert) has announced a new voice-activated directions service on its hosted voice automation platform.

With the new offering, made possible through the use of technology from Dial Directions, carriers can offer a "directions" option to callers that will allow them to simply speak their starting location for turn-by-turn directions to their destination via text message.

Adding Dial Directions voice-activated directions technology to VoltDelta's enhanced DA services will help the company secure their role "as a premier platform provider for both enhanced directory assistance and local mobile search to wireless and wireline carriers."

The new offering also answers to the need for an efficient voice-driven user interface for directions. According to a November 2007 consumer survey on mobile 411 by Opus Research, the demand for mobile DA is high, with over 50 percent of mobile 411 callers seeking an address or driving directions. And as mobile wireless subscribers and usage continues to increase, this new offering will help the company to tap into the 7 billion/year DA industry in the U.S.

"A directions application provides a compelling call experience for consumers who dial directory assistance seeking information. VoltDelta's infrastructure and database supports billions of DA calls annually for its telephone company carriers and Dial Directions' technology will be fully integrated into our platform" said Brad Schorer, Senior Vice President of VoltDelta. "Dial Directions provides a voice-activated directions service that has received mass consumer acceptance and we believe it will create a differentiated DA service for our carrier clients."

Amit Desai, co-founder and chief product officer of Dial Directions also said, "Our strategic partnership demonstrates the potential to go beyond conventional DA with cutting-edge voice-activated location-based services that deliver quick and accurate information to mobile 411 users."

VoltDelta made headlines when it signed a commercial reseller and marketing partnership Transera (News - Alert) Communications. As per the partnership, Transera’s Seratel on-demand contact center software will be combined with VoltDelta hosted solutions.
