By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor
Offering what it claims to be the most convenient way to enroll their checking accounts for consumers, Mitek Systems has unveiled a new solution for mobile payments companies, the company has announced.
The mobile-payment companies to help consumers enroll their checking accounts as funding sources for mobile payments with a simple "Point, Shoot, Enrolled!" solution, which is available with Mitek Mobile ACH Enrollment solution. Deriving its name from the widely used Automated Clearing House (ACH) function in financial transactions, ACH processes large volumes of credit and debit transactions. Mitek's patented technology converts a mobile phone's camera into a scanner to store, send and process any document.
“By eliminating keystrokes, our new Mobile ACH Enrollment solution reduces consumers' anxieties about enrolling their checking accounts with mobile payments providers," said Mitek president and CEO James B. DeBello. "They no longer have to worry about entering each character in the proper sequence. We're turning our many years of experience in extracting critical data from check images and our patented intellectual property expertise into a platform of innovative applications.”
With the patented ability to securely and accurately detect, capture, analyze, enhance and process digital information gathered via the smart phone camera, Mitek Mobile ACH Enrollment joins Mitek's flagship Mobile Deposit, Mobile Photo Bill Pay and Mobile Receipt applications that all capitalize on the company's core competency. As of now, consumers are using a complex set of numbers shown on their checks via their smart phone keypads to connect their checking accounts to their mobile-payment solutions.
In October 2008, the company announced that it has signed an original equipment manufacturer agreement with AnyDoc Software, an award-winning developer of document and data capture technology. With the agreement, AnyDoc’s Infiniworx solution will get Mitek’s specialized ImageNet Payments check engine platform for automated remittance, check and Check 21 processing. Users of Infiniworx got the flexibility to integrate automated check processing into a document and data capture processing workflow.Raju Shanbhag is a contributing editor for TMCnet.
