Precision Software Announces the Release of PRECISION v17

Precision Software, a worldwide leader in multi-carrier shipping software announced today the availability of PRECISION v17, the latest version of the integrated PRECISION suite. Precision Software is a division of QAD Inc. (Nasdaq:QADA) (Nasdaq:QADB).

"With this latest release, Precision Software continues the evolution of the PRECISION suite, helping customers effectively meet their transportation, global trade and supply chain management requirements across the enterprise and throughout their supply chain," said Paul Murphy, vice president, research and development for Precision Software.

Key New Benefits:

  • The Effective User
  • PRECISION Freight Bill Audit & Pay
  • Local device access

PRECISION v17 Details

The Effective User - This release introduces the Effective User. This allows PRECISION to be tailored to the specific needs of different types of users. Thirteen user roles, grouped in three categories, have been identified and configured into the PRECISION solution. Navigation has also been overhauled to support role-based access. Upon login, a user will be presented with the features that are important to their specific role(s). They can maintain favorites, easily search for features and choose their own home page.

Freight Bill Audit & Pay - PRECISION Freight Bill Audit & Pay (FBAP) was designed to help manage the review and payment process of invoices from carriers. It matches the invoice charges with estimates made at the time of shipping. These estimates may have been generated by PRECISION during shipment execution or by other systems and loaded into PRECISION. This solution identifies discrepancies that fall outside of allowed tolerances and raises an exception. These exceptions can be accepted or challenged. When invoices are approved they can be released to other systems for payment.

Local Device Access - The PRECISION application may need to connect from a supported browser to attached weighing scales and/or to send labels and documents to printers that are available locally, but not necessarily available to the application servers. In previous releases, this was achieved through the use of applets. However, for security reasons the browser vendors have been removing support for applets. This release allows the PRECISION solution to make these connections without using applets.
