Jiffy Packaging Upgrades to Latest Version of QAD Enterprise Applications ERP

QAD Inc. (Nasdaq:QADA) (Nasdaq:QADB), a leading provider of enterprise software and services designed for global manufacturing companies, today announced that Jiffy Packaging, a European manufacturer of polyolefin foam and bubble products, has chosen to upgrade its ERP to the latest version of QAD Enterprise Applications.

Jiffy Packaging Europe produces polyolefin foam and bubble film products for a wide variety of end-applications in various market segments including protective packaging, automotive, building and construction. Jiffy has manufacturing operations in Germany, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Italy, the Czech Republic, Romania, Poland and Hungary and employs over 900 people.

Jiffy first deployed QAD ERP in 1996, and several of its sites were still using older versions of the solution. The company was owned by a private equity fund until in 2014 when it was acquired by Airpack Spa, a leading Italian packaging manufacturer. Airpack explored ways to update the company's business software and processes, including its ERP. After evaluating a number of options, Jiffy Packaging decided to upgrade to the latest version of QAD Enterprise Applications. Jiffy Packaging will first employ the new ERP solution at its Wellen, Belgium and Bopfingen, Germany sites, with other sites to follow.

"To maintain our leadership in a very competitive industry, our business needs to stay as flexible as possible," said Jiffy Packaging CEO Mark Köllmann. "Being able to deliver the right products to the right customers in time at the lowest possible freight cost is key. We want to simplify and optimize our business processes and employ a state of the art system. Moving to the latest version of QAD allows us to take advantage of the latest freight management best practices, maintain flexibility and streamline our administration and organizational processes. Some of our sites have used QAD for some time and the familiarity of our employees with the solution should make it easier for them to get comfortable with the new version."

Jiffy Packaging chose QAD Enterprise Edition for a number of specific reasons including:

  • It promised the best solution fit for the lowest investment
  • QAD provides standard functionality for manufacturing processes out of the box, reducing time and effort during the implementation
  • QAD Configurator, which provides complete rules-based product configuration, reduces time and effort in item creation while providing consistency in offerings to customers
  • Several existing sites already use QAD ERP solutions
  • The system is easier to maintain, requiring less IT overhead
  • QAD has extensive experience in the flexible packaging business with a number o European customers including RENOLIT SE and DS Smith Plastics.

"Jiffy is a longtime customer with several sites currently running on QAD," said J.C. Walravens, senior vice president of QAD EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa). "Their business also includes additional European sites that could be converted to QAD in the future as they continue to streamline their ERP. It's a great fit for us, and a testament to our flexible packaging expertise."
