Danville Life Saving Crew Improves Volunteer Scheduling with EMS Manager
For any emergency response agency, the benefits of using scheduling software can be limitless. In fact, after using a desk blotter calendar for 30 long years, The Danville Life Saving Crew, an emergency response service provider, has switched to Aladtec’s EMS Manager for more efficient scheduling of its 100-person crew. Aladtec’s solution has allowed the agency to save 60 hours every month in associated labor costs.
“For the past 30 years we used large desk blotter calendars. Our members had to come to the station three times a month to sign up for shifts. Then we had to reconcile the schedule to make sure everyone did what they were supposed to do and then posted it. Our organization was searching for an affordable electronic option to schedule our volunteers that was simple and easy for our members to use,” Deputy Chief of Danville Life Saving Crew Tim Holman noted in a statement.
Aladtec is known in the public safety sector for its flagship products, EMS Manager and FIRE Manager. The web-based software solutions are used for online employee scheduling and workforce management applications.
Ease of use and affordability were two factors that made Danville Life Saving Crew select EMS Manager over a few other options. Thanks to the software’s customizable features, the crew members could take an effortless transition to a more sophisticated system from the traditional paper-based system. In addition to scheduling, the EMS Manager is also used to track volunteer time for grants and fundraising needs.
Additionally, EMS Manager’s mobile application feature comes helps when it comes to allowing the members to view their schedule from their smartphone, or other mobile device, anytime from any location. This feature is essential because most volunteers have other jobs to attend to and a web based solution helps them to maintain balance.
“Not only is EMS Manager easy to use and affordable, but it’s extremely convenient. Through the mobile app I can approve sign ups, keep up with what units are on duty and cover assignments from wherever I happen to be. This is particularly useful when I’m on 24 hour call. In addition, to say our old system left a large carbon footprint is an understatement. We have finally come into the 21st century and it is wonderful,” Holman added.
