Zwarenstein Named CFO of Five9
Five9 (News - Alert), a company that provides cloud-based call center software, has appointed Barry Zwarenstein as its Chief Financial Officer. Zwarenstein previously served as CFO for multiple companies including, most recently, Smart Modular Technologies.
CEO Mike Burkland expressed his optimism about the role that Zwarenstein would play in the growth of Five9. “Barry's extensive experience in the equity and debt markets, his successful navigation of the IPO process for prior companies, and his leadership as CFO of multiple publicly traded technology companies, provides us with the financial leadership to capitalize further on the significant market opportunity for Five9,” Burkland said in a statement released by Five9.
Zwarenstein earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Natal, South Africa, and an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. He previously served as Vice President of Finance and CFO for Iomega Corporation from 2001 to 2004 and as Executive Vice President of Finance and CFO for Verifone from 2004 to 2008. He also serves as a director and chairman of the audit committee at DealerTrack Holdings, Inc.
Five9 was recently named to Inc. magazine’s fifth annual list of America’s fastest growing companies. The company serves tens of thousands of call agents on over five continents with its cloud-based services. Instead of replacing aging infrastructure, companies gain the functionality of an on-premise technology with all of the savings associated with cloud computing. Five9’s software supports both inbound and outbound calling as well as providing workforce scheduling support for call centers. Company software also provides IVR with speech recognition and automated dialing for broadcasting voice messages to a wide audience.
The company promises to provide the training and support needed to get a call center up and running within 48 hours. In addition, Five9’s call center technology integrates with existing CRM systems. Solutions exist for small, mid-sized and large enterprises ranging from first time call center automation to the extension of call centers at home, onshore and offshore.
“I am excited to join Five9 during such an impressive period of growth in both revenue and overall customer base, now exceeding fourteen hundred customers,” said Zwarenstein. “I look forward to working with a talented team of contact center veterans, preparing for many significant company milestones.”
