Deputy Announces New Suite of Healthcare Features, 400+ Healthcare Organizations Migrate to Platform

Deputy, a modern workforce management platform, today announced new features for the healthcare sector, driven by significant industry momentum. Over 400 healthcare businesses, including urgent care centers, medical practices, primary care physicians, optometrists, dentists, assisted living and nursing homes have migrated from legacy providers to Deputy. Of particular benefit are feature enhancements for the mobile workforce including biometric facial recognition, training and certification tracking, and an updated compliance rules engine.

"Healthcare organizations face unique labor challenges, in that many healthcare settings have the front-line staff also managing the scheduling. Every hour we save them is an hour they spend face-to-face with their patients," said Jason Walker, President of Americas, Deputy. "The increasingly mobile workforce is now talking about patient acuity, quality outcomes and avoidable readmissions-all of which requires intense focus on the patient. Deputy ensures the right people are working at the right time to meet these new demands."

Biometric Facial Recognition via Apple (News - Alert) iPad

Deputy now offers facial biometrics to verify the identity of a healthcare worker at the time of clock-in and out as an affordable option for healthcare practices. Expensive time clocks that cost thousands of dollars upfront or hundreds per month to lease from legacy providers have made this option a hardship.

Deputy's partnership in the Apple Mobility Partner program has made the biometric facial recognition feature available on any iPad with iOS 9 or later, at no additional charge.

"Deputy's employee scheduling and time tracking solution comes down to efficiency, time management and documentation in one easy app," said Anilda Bardhyli, Center Administrator for AFC Urgent Care. "Our staff easily clocks in and out with the biometric facial recognition; it's fast and fun on the iPad. It just works-our staff have a lot more time giving our patients the quality care that sets us apart."

Training and Certification Tracking

Healthcare organizations must ensure that the correct workers are always scheduled, and that they are trained, certified and credentialed for the specific tasks of the shift. If not done correctly, paients and businesses can be at risk. Deputy's Training and Certification Tracking allows uploading of training and certification credentials as well as expiration dates. Integrated with the scheduling tool, schedulers are now prompted if the worker's certification will expire before the scheduled shift. This can all be managed within Deputy or synced to a Learning Management System (LMS) so healthcare managers never schedule a worker who has an expired certification.

"Deputy has truly empowered both me and my employees. We're all able to focus our attention back on what's most important-our residents-while my employees are also able to feel more invested in their contributions to our business than ever before," said Kathy Lois Jones, the owner of Elder Village.

Meal, Rest, & Overtime Compliance Rules Engine

Each state has specific meal, rest, and overtime laws of which schedulers need to be aware. In an effort to match the right care provider to the correct patient, simple mistakes can be made that violate federal, state or local regulations. Deputy has updated its platform's compliance rules engine to include rules that protect employers against the most common wage-hour mistakes. This system not only provides the scheduler what they need, but also gives employers the flexibility to easily update or create additional rules.

"One of our customers migrated to Deputy after they were sued for $1,000 for every minute their employee clocked in early from their break. Not having visibility of this over a three-year period caused a near catastrophic lawsuit. That problem is now solved with Deputy," said Jason Walker, President of Americas, Deputy.
