Yale New Haven Opens Call Center for COVID-19 Support
March 12, 2020 will go down in the history books as the day March Madness, NBA, NHL, PGA, MLB et al. were forced to shut doors, and take precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the highly contagious coronavirus. The best and the brightest medical minds are working to put a stop to the spread of this impactful pandemic.
Yale New Haven Health set up a call center to answer questions regarding COVID-19. Patients can be accessed via video or phone to be determined whether or not they need to be tested for the coronavirus.
The call center serves to offer citizens a means to learn more about coronavirus without risking themselves or other of contracting the virus. The number to call is 1-833-ASK-YNHH or 1-833-275-9644.
“We’re giving advice to persons in the community about how to avoid and reduce risk to exposure and referring them to the best information out there,” said Dr. Christian Pettker, associate chief quality officer for the Yale New Haven Health System, who is in charge of the call center along with Maribeth Cabie, director of clinical redesign for the health care system.
Information can stem panic, harkening back G.I. Joe’s tried and true motto, “knowing is half the battle.” Arm the population with information, best practice and an outlet for resources and assist in turning the tide on panic – maybe the crazy run on toilet paper as well!
It’s too bad we won’t have the chance to see what kind of run the Yale Bulldogs could have made in the big dance, it’s mission critical we stop the run of infected. Well done, Yale New Haven Health.
