I bet you spend most of your day sitting at a desk in an office chair – and you probably clock more hours using your desk chair over any other piece of furniture, including your mattress. Many people believe that it is relaxing to sit, but sitting actually exerts stress on our backs because it transfers our full upper body weight onto our thighs. Sitting in an ill-fitting chair at a desk that’s positioned awkwardly can wreak havoc on our bodies, leading to backaches, headaches and countless other discomforts – not to mention traditional office furniture was not designed with healthy body mechanics in mind. 

Fortunately, Los Angeles-based manufacturer and retailer of ergonomic office, classroom and healthcare furniture VersaTables has recently introduced an innovative, new product to its line of computer desk accessories: the Mesa Monitor Stand. The Mesa Monitor Stand is a moveable shelf designed to raise any desktop computer monitor to the ergonomically appropriate height.

“The Mesa Monitor Stand can really make a difference when it comes to increasing productivity and reducing neck strain,” said John-Paul Nelson, director of business development at VersaTables, in a statement. “It raises the monitor a full four inches above the desk or table’s surface so the user can keep proper form when typing on the keyboard.”

The Mesa Monitor Stand allows up to 17.75" in horizontal space to slide the keyboard below the monitor for storage.  

“The stand is made from high density wood and recycled American steel so it’s strong and durable. It also comes in the same twelve color combinations that most of our desks and computer tables come in so customers can be sure it will match,” said Nelson.

Moreover, the ergonomic stand was designed for computer users, but the design also lends itself to versatility. “You don’t have to use it for a monitor if you don’t need it for that purpose. It’s also a great platform that can be used as a shelf to enhance useable space on a filing pedestal or printer cart,” he explained.

VersaTables works with organizations including the Sustainable Furnishings Council (SFC), U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), and Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturer’s Association (BIFMA) to maintain high standards of sustainability.
