Powered Tables Promote Expansion in the Call Center

By Chris DiMarco, TMCnet Managing Editor

On first glance the furniture in your call center may not seem all that important. What do you really need anyway? A couple of cubes, some chairs and you’re all set right? Ehh… maybe not.

The fact of the matter is that call centers are all about the ability to optimize staffing requirements in relation to the number of calls you’re getting on a day to day basis. The more agents you have and the more options of fitting them into the space, the more prepared you’ll be for expansion.

So when you’re considering work surfaces, one thing you’ll need to keep in mind is the power requirements that said workstations will eventually need. People today expect accessible power wherever they are in order to stay productive and connected. Whether it’s an extra plug for their iPhone (News - Alert), or for the second monitor you provide them with when they step up to shift leader, you’re going to end up using any plugs at your disposal.

Powered tabled like those offered by call center furniture provider Interior Concepts expand your power options and provide you with ample juice for all of your expansion needs. Take for example the company’s Connect 2 line.

The product is UL Listed as a Manufactured Wiring System, Connect2 is available on tables from 24”–96” wide in 6” increments, and does not require hardwiring to building power (a UL Listed hardwire option is available). A maximum of six tables can be connected per power feed and the system can grow and adapt as room configurations and demands change because all tables with modesty panels facilitate power and data cables easily with an under-worksurface lay-in cable trough. The trough discreetly and conveniently channels cords and cables from table-to-table.

This solution gives you the flexibility to have power and data exactly where it’s needed, as well as the ability to add more Connect2 power kits down the road.

Expanding should be part of your call center’s plan, and with resources like power and data connection always at a premium, investing in furniture that helps you distribute it is an investment in your success.
