The ability to offer your wares on a mobile app is key to success if your target market is a heavy app user. Cisco recognized the need and reached out to Apple (News - Alert) to create a key partnership. The two will work together to create a “fast lane” for iOS business users seeking to optimize the Cisco network through iOS apps and devices. For heavy iOS environments, this will lend considerable value for call accounting.
The resulting solution will enable streamlined integration between the iPhone (News - Alert) and Cisco enterprise environments, ensuring unique collaboration on iPad and iPhone devices. With so many Global 500 companies putting iOS at the center of their mobile strategies, the opportunity to improve productivity with devices employees already use regularly is key to advancing efficiency and improving performance.
“Ninety-five percent of companies in the Fortune 500 count on Cisco (News - Alert) Collaboration and Cisco networks to help their teams be more productive,” said Cisco Executive Chairman John Chambers, in a press release. “Through this engineering and go-to-market partnership, we’re offering our joint customers the ability to seamlessly extend that awesome Cisco environment to their favorite iOS devices. Together, we’re going to help teams achieve higher levels of productivity and effectiveness.”
Call accounting solutions provider, ISI (News - Alert) Telemanagement Solutions considers this move one to rival all other power moves. By partnering, Cisco and Apple will bring Cisco’s enterprise level Unified Communications (News - Alert) and Collaboration (UC&C) solutions to the consumer electronics space where Apple dominates.
In a market where users favor the iPhone and iPad, applications continue to be disparate and present challenges for enterprise IT departments. As users continue to grow more attached to their devices, it only makes sense for these two power houses to join forces to enhance the experience and allow for enterprise capabilities and support.
Combine the affinity for Apple iOS products with the powerful networking Cisco brings to the table and companies are sure to experience usage that is more innovative, streamlined and seamless across the entire business environment. The world and supporting markets are gearing up for the Internet of Things (IoT), of which mobility through Apple devices will play an integral part. And, chances are we can only begin to imagine what this partnership can enable.
They key benefit for companies aside from improved performance, productivity and integration is the ability to extend the accuracy of its call accounting efforts. Mobile will no longer have to represent the challenge in telecommunications spend and can instead contribute to transparency and efficient record keeping. As for additional benefits, we’ll likely have to wait and see.
