Call Accounting Year in Review: Looking Back with ISI Telemanagement

By Juliana Kenny, TMCnet Managing Editor

As major players in the telecom space are wrapping up their presents, they’re also wrapping up their accomplishments from the past year. The Call Accounting and Telecom Expense Management sectors of the market saw significant developments over 2011, not the least of which came from ISI (News - Alert) Telemanagement Solutions.

Most recently winning the 2011 INTERNET TELEPHONY Excellence Award from INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine, ISI was duly recognized for its work in the Call Accounting industry

Mark McNeill, vice president of Strategic Marketing Solutions for ISI, shed some light on the biggest advancements the company made in the past year, and what it is looking forward to in the months to come. He described how ISI launched Infortel® WirelessNOW™ providing real-time wireless reporting and expense management, Concurrent Call Analysis to predict bandwidth requirements for SIP Trunking and improved network capacity management, as well as full reporting capabilities for Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync Server 2010, becoming one of the first Microsoft Partners to complete the new vendor certification and lab testing.

ISI also launched Call Detail Auditing – a service that quickly and conveniently compares carrier invoices with actual call detail records to pick out errors in billing statements and processes.

Looking forward, McNeill said that ISI is planning increased reporting capabilities for collaboration and telepresence technologies, as well as reporting for mobility. In fact, mobility seems to be at the forefront of ISI’s plans with development in the works for interface-enabling tablets and Smartphones to view Infortel® Select data and reports.

“The lines between Call Accounting and Telecom Expense Management will continue to blur as Call Accounting adds new functionality that enables users to better monitor and manage their actual costs in real-time and avoid some of those costs before they are incurred,” McNeill predicts for the next year. He added, “Less-sophisticated products who have not kept up with these network technology advancements will suffer as even the SMB market begins to look at MPLS, SIP, Collaboration and other communications technologies requiring more robust reporting and analytics engines.”

Of course, mobility is on everyone’s mind, and the management of Call Accounting solutions on mobile devices will be an interesting process to watch.
