The digital workforce, once a small select group who were largely freelancers, is now a force to be reckoned with in the U.S. and across the world.

“The COVID-19 pandemic suddenly derailed many businesses’ carefully laid plans,” according to Information Week. “Amid a scramble to maintain business continuity and shift to remote work, long-term digital strategy took on immediate urgency as the pace of change accelerated across all industries.”

The integrations of people and technology need to be done carefully, however, with well thought out planning. In the rush to become fully digital, many companies may choose sub-par technologies that simply won’t work for their organizations. In many cases, resellers are filling in the gap between a company’s needs and its knowledge.

Technology solutions provider Comstar Technologies recently announced the addition of 8×8 communications platform-as-a-service (CPaaS) APIs and embeddable applications to its existing 8×8 Value Added Reseller (VAR) partnership. The 8×8 CPaaS portfolio of APIs and embeddable applications, including SMS, chat apps, business VoIP, video and performance monitoring, empowers businesses and organizations to extend and customize business communications, customer engagement, and third-party applications to reimagine workflows that create more engaging employee and customer experiences to scale.

The new portfolio offering and growing partnership positions Comstar as the first 8×8 channel partner to provide the company’s robust CPaaS offerings in the marketplace

“As the digital workforce continues to proliferate, companies are searching for ways to integrate staff across communication channels and physical locations,” said Warren Reyburn, SVP of Sales and Marketing at Comstar Technologies, in a statement. “By introducing 8×8 CPaaS to our customers, we can now provide such functionality not just to our existing UCaaS clients, but we can approach the thousands of premise-based PBX users still under our care.”

Reyburn noted that the fact that CPaaS is hardware- and platform-agnostic is a tremendous value proposition for its user community. CPaaS will drive new revenue for Comstar, he said, while also playing into the company’s retention strategy.
