Grandstream's IP Phones Net INTERNET TELEPHONY Award

When it comes to Internet protocol (IP) phones, there's no shortage of competitors in the field. Finding an IP phone is comparatively easy, but finding the best one is like looking for a particular needle in a stack of needles. One of the best ways to distinguish a product from its competitors is to win an award, something that Grandstream recently did by taking home a Product of the Year award from INTERNET TELEPHONY.

Grandstream won the nod specifically for its GXP1700 series of mid-range IP phones, which focus on mid-range buyers who can afford a bit more than the value-based line, but don't necessarily need all the features of the top-notch models.  The GXP1700 line includes three models, the GXP1760, the GXP1780 and the GXP1782. The 1760 boasts support for six lines and three session initiation protocol (SIP) accounts, as well as 24 programmable keys. Meanwhile, the 1780 and 1782 support eight lines and four SIP accounts along with 32 programmable keys. Separating the two is that the 1782 offers dual Gigabit ports, while the 1780 instead offers a pair of 10 / 100Mbps ports.

TMC's Rich Tehrani, who oversees INTERNET TELEPHONY, commented, “It gives me great pleasure to recognize Grandstream with a Product of the Year Award for 2017. I have always been impressed with their commitment to excellence and innovation. In the opinion of our distinguished judges, the GXP1700 series has proven to be among the best IP communications solutions available on the market. I look forward to continued innovation from Grandstream.”

Grandstream's line of IP phones is a powerful new entrant in the market, but without a means to separate itself effectively from the vast array of customers in the field, few would even know these phones existed. The win at INTERNET TELEPHONY, meanwhile, should go a long way toward breaking the line out of the mass of competitors, bringing more attention to this impressive line of hardware.

When there are many items in a market, it's easy for such items to become commoditized, often regarded as little better than the others and to be judged largely on price. The result of an award win, however, can help elevate such a product and make it seem more valuable. That perception has fueled marketing programs in the past, and it will likely continue to do so for IP phone maker Grandstream.

Anyone interested in hearing more about Grandstream's phones can catch up with the company at ITEXPO  this week, Feb. 8-10, in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The company will be exhibiting at booth 311 and meeting room 204, so stop by to gain some valuable insights!
