Nextiva Clarity VoIP Firewall Begins Commercial Release

Cloud-based communications service provider and software developer Nextiva announced this past week that it has launched Nextiva Clarity, its new combination firewall and voice-over-IP (VoIP) quality of service hardware.

Businesses that use VoIP may have a need for call security but may also be concerned about the quality of their voice calls. With Nextiva Clarity, they only need to connect their desktops and IP phones to a wired or wireless model to send and receive calls that are protected from prying eyes and also prioritized above other traffic on their networks. This has the benefit of providing users with a safe atmosphere marked also by the clear receipt and transmission of voice signals.

Josh Lesavoy, the chief information officer at Nextiva, said this release will help its clients react to common VoIP network issues before they occur.

“Nextiva Clarity provides unprecedented insight in to a customers’ network and revolutionizes the way our team and network administrators troubleshoot, identify, and resolve network issues,” Lesavoy said. “Traditionally our only option has been to be reactive, but this device allows us to take a proactive approach and solve greater problems affecting their network. This device will save everyone valuable time and resolve issues faster than ever before.”

As TMC has previously noted in its features, VoIP calls are subject to issues such as packet loss, a phenomenon that can affect all Internet-based transmissions but which has the unwanted effect of causing a lack of voice clarity, sound jitter, and dropped calls when applied to IP calling.

Users can get those issues off their backs by utilizing the various features of Nextiva Clarity. The hardware unit first allows for as many as 300 devices to connect at once. It will protect all those connections within a firewall. IT administrators can then take a full view of their protected devices by using its built-in Web-based interface to view or alter the routing and firewall settings associated with each connection. Troubleshooting features within that interface give admins the knowledge they need to determine where any issues have risen – in the office or at the service provider.

Furthermore, Nextiva’s new hardware also has the capability to notify admins through email or text when an issue has occurred. It continuously scans for network connectivity and packet integrity to make sure that everything runs smoothly. When quality begins to degrade or Internet connections cease, admins know about it the instant it happens. These notifications complete the full package that is Clarity and can help save a business’s calling uptime and its admins’ sanity.
