Nextiva Hosts Webinar on Overcoming Virtual Workforce Challenges

When Marissa Mayer banned Yahoo employees from telecommuting, she stirred a pot full of opinions and arguments from people for and against working from a physical office. By 2016, 63 million Americans will be working from outside of their office, up from 34 million in 2010. Virtual workforces are becoming more popular every day, and companies are faced with the challenge of adapting to this new trend while sustaining strong corporate cultures.

Nextiva, a provider of cloud-based unified communications services, is presenting a webinar, “How to Build & Manage a Virtual Workforce,” to help employers figure out how to overcome this challenge. The webinar is part of a monthly series to discuss ways to simplify business communications.

With virtual workers, companies are able to operate with zero unnecessary overhead, often saving more than 30 percent. Virtual employees also tend to be more accountable, take on more responsibility and are more passionate about their work, which enables them to achieve better performance.

“People who scoff about working virtually remind me of those who laughed at Electronic Data Systems when Ross Perot started talking about outsourcing in 1962. Eventually, outsourcing dramatically change the world enterprise computing,” said Eric Savitz in a Forbes article. “Virtual work has the potential to be similarly world changing. The virtualization of business is like outsourcing on steroids: not only is it highly efficient, but it is probably the most advanced and evolved economic system yet devised.”

The webinar will be held Tuesday, Aug. 13 at 2 p.m. ET and will feature Jason Fried, co-founder and president of 37signals, and Barry Moltz, a small business expert and author. Fried and Moltz will explore ways to attract the best possible employees for a virtual office and how to build the products and services that customers need.

“Virtual workforces are no longer a novelty, they are now the norm. Our goal with this webinar is to provide valuable insights and actionable steps that small business owners can take to help their organizations,” says Yaniv Masjedi, Nextiva’s vice president of marketing, in a statement. “We love being able to help small businesses succeed and look forward to producing more valuable webinars each month.”
