The demand for business VoIP within the small to medium-sized business sector has increased tremendously in the past few years as these systems help companies to keep their employees and customers connected anytime and anywhere.

Recently, Kineto Wireless, Inc., an innovator in the mobile industry released the first business VoIP application, called Smart VoIP.

Officials said that the Smart VoIP app enables mobile operators to leverage their existing network infrastructure to offer a competitive over-the-top voice service. It also supports a range of standard mobile telephony capabilities.

Dean Bubley, founder of analyst firm Disruptive Analysis, commented, “Telecom operators need to launch their own over-the-top VoIP services, to compete effectively with Internet innovators and to complement their traditional ‘on-net’ offerings.”

The Smart VoIP application works over Wi-Fi, as well as 3G and LTE mobile networks with the option to work only over Wi-Fi networks. Additionally, it also enables operators to leverage their existing R4 or IMS voice infrastructure.

Designed to run on major mobile operating systems including iPhone, Android and Windows Mobile, the Smart VoIP application can be branded by mobile operators and downloaded by subscribers through standard application stores.

“Kineto’s Smart VoIP solution is the first designed specifically for mobile operators to address the growing threat from 3rd party over-the-top voice services like Skype and Google Voice,” said Steve Shaw, vice president of marketing for Kineto, in a press release. “Our Smart VoIP application helps operators create and brand their own over-the-top service to meet subscriber demands for mobile VoIP.”

In related company news, Kineto Wireless, a supplier of Wi-Fi solutions for mobile operators, has recently added new capabilities to its Smart Wi-Fi Application that enhance the end-user service experience when connected to public Wi-Fi networks.
