Since 2002 VC Warehouse has been supplying second user and refurbished video conferencing equipment on a global basis. The company buys and sells equipment from several manufacturers such as Polycom, Cisco Tandberg (News - Alert) and Lifesize. While most of its systems are HD, including 1080p they are still able to supply standard definition systems and parts for discontinued models, which is good for small-and-medium businesses (SMBs) that simply want to maintain what they already have.
VC Warehouse is now pushing forward and taking the next step. The company will now be providing hosted Voice over IP (VoIP) services. Operations manager at VC Warehouse Verity Lawson, commented that “Hosted VoIP has turned telecoms on its head and customers no longer have to pay for PBX (News - Alert) equipment, ISDN lines, call connection charges or even calls per minute. Companies of any size, with any number of extensions can use hosted VoIP. We are seeing traditional video conferencing starting to become accessible to everyone as hosted video communications are becoming main stream and it seemed a natural development for us to dovetail VoIP into our portfolio.”
We have watched as VoIP has matured and evolved to the point where it is now a viable option for companies of any size to use. One of the major benefits that it brings to the table is the fact that the cost of using a VoIP phone system is exceptionally cheaper than a traditional phone.
Some of the best reasons for having VoIP services are increased flexibility, scalability and mobility. The use of Internet telephony enables users to easily integrate software programs. The integration of email, calendar, contacts and remote conferencing over the Internet provides the flexibility of being able to accomplish more, thus making it more efficient.
The flexibility and scalability that I mentioned above becomes a very important piece of the puzzle as a smaller company grows and expands. It is difficult to upgrade an in-house PBX system as it requires additional equipment, technicians and usually new phones.
On the other hand, changes to a VoIP system can be made through a few simple changes to the program. This allows a company to grow and change without any down time or fear of losing calls along the way. It also give SMBs the appearance of being much larger companies.
Many large, as well as small businesses are making the transition because it does improve flexibility and communication while at the same time offering significant cost-savings. As long as you have access to Wi-Fi, you can make low-cost calls from any location.
VoIP not only helps reduce a company’s costs, it also gives them the freedom to focus on developing their business without having to worry about efficient methods of communication. Overall, being able to offer hosted VoIP services seems to be a wise, natural next step for VC Warehouse.
