Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phone systems are a perfect tool for businesses, because they are able to deliver high quality business-class services at only a fraction of the cost of similar landline-based packages. TDS Telecom is a provider of excellent business and residential VoIP phone systems that primarily serves the northeastern United States, yet the company is looking to expand its reach due to growing customer demands. In order to do so, the company is partnering with Bandwidth (News - Alert) to expand their Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC) footprint in order to provide services to a larger region.
“We have a tremendous amount of customers who want to extend our services to other locations beyond our existing CLEC footprint” claims group president of Marketing, sales and customer Operations for TDS Telecom, Jim Butman. “By working with bandwidth, we have an opportunity to deliver a nationwide virtual office solution that our users can depend on for voice and 911.” As TDS service is expanded, several of the company's offices around the nation will be united under a single network. “We appreciate the scalability and flexibility of Bandwidth's automation tools which allows our team to spend more time with our customers.”
Bandwidth will be automating several services for TDS, including the VoIP number selection, provisioning and management process. Bandwidth's Application Programming Interface (API) will also facilitate the integration of these processes into the existing TDS infrastructure with as little interference as possible.
TDS Telecom provides the backbone of service to several smaller VoIP companies that serve both business and residential customers, and represents the seventh largest local exchange telephone company in the country. Already, the company connects over one million business and residential VoIP lines and other Internet services, but expanding the reach of their CLEC footprint will allow TDS to gain several more new customers.
