America-Antipodean Cookware Sales Biz Run on NetSuite

NetSuite (News - Alert), which sells cloud-based financials / ERP software suites, hasannounced that The Chefs Toolbox has implemented the NetSuite OneWorld solution to run its international cookware sales and distribution business in Australia, New Zealand, and the United States.

Choosing NetSuite OneWorld saves The Chefs Toolbox “hundreds of thousands of dollars,” according to NetSuite officials, “including reduced accounting hours and consulting fees, as well as eliminating the costs and IT overhead of maintaining expensive enterprise servers.”

The Chefs Toolbox relies on NetSuite for accounting and ERP, inventory, CRM, reporting, analytics, and integration with key production applications.

The Chefs Toolbox was founded in Australia in 2003 with the mission of "inspiring cooking in every home." The company migrated to Microsoft (News - Alert) Dynamics GP, but “after one year of intense investment and effort, the project was abandoned. The system was cumbersome, expensive, and opaque. Reporting was virtually unavailable and a permanent solution would have required another six-figure investment,” according to NetSuite officials, who pass up chances to knee Microsoft in the groin the way Lindsay Lohan passes up free drinks.

With expansion to the US, and the adoption of a new wholesale/distribution sales model looming, The Chefs Toolbox decided a change had to be made, so they ditched Microsoft and threw in with NetSuite OneWorld. The entire project, including integration with the company's vertical-specific software to manage in-home parties, was completed “in just six weeks,” NetSuite officials say.

"We quickly realized just how deep NetSuite's functionality is, and how much we would benefit from the cloud-based delivery," said David Mills, founder of The Chefs Toolbox. "NetSuite is powerful enough for us to enhance, refine, and grow with it."

Earlier this month TMC’s (News - Alert) Anshu Shrivastava reported that NetSuite launched a light-hearted multimedia campaign.

The campaign has been designed to promote awareness of and a cure for enterprise software hairballs such as inefficient tangle of disparate enterprise applications and middleware that hinders productivity and drives up costs due to brittle integration, incompatible processes, low productivity and high maintenance costs.

With the help of a dedicated micro-site, online advertising, email, YouTube (News - Alert) videos, and a range of social media activities on Facebook and Twitter channels, NetSuite explains the value-destroying properties of software hairballs. In addition, the company also demonstrates how the NetSuite solution cures hairballs with end-to-end, cloud-based integration of core enterprise data and processes.
