Oracle Voice Virtual Assistant Comes to the Oracle Sales Cloud

By TMCnet Staff

From business process automation (BPA) perspective, enabling sales people to be more productive by giving then tools that really do help them save time and effect has been a preoccupation for decades. It started with simple contact management software and then was revolutionized by Salesforce.com (News - Alert).  However, innovation has not stopped there as all of the additions even recently to Salesforc.com illustrate, and now the announcement by Oracle (News - Alert) that in Release 9 of the Oracle Sales Cloud it is bringing Oracle Voice (officially "Oracle Fusion Voice Cloud Service for the Oracle Sales Cloud"), a speech-enabled virtual assistant that lets sales reps speak directly to the Oracle Sales Cloud on their smartphones, can be added to the list.

The specific target of the latest release is all about sales force work optimization.  As Oracle points out, “A sales system is only as good as the sales data it holds, and most of this data comes from field sales representatives who are expected to enter it on their laptops and desktops” The challenge is that the  typical field sales rep according Oracle spends 32 percent of their time traveling and waiting for meetings. These are opportunities for salespeople, whose only readily available device is their smartphone, to use that time to enter data into sales systems as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Oracle Voice is being touted as representative of the company’s commitment to creating great user experiences for employees by leveraging its abilities to provide great user experiences via the Oracle Applications Cloud.  The benefits are tangible as Oracle Voice let’s reps view their work for when they are getting ready of a meeting and enables them to quickly create Notes, Activities and Contacts, and update Opportunities while the information is extremely timely.

As Oracle says, “User experience is a strategic investment area for Oracle. A clear example of this is our research and development on our applications cloud user experiences, with a focus on simplicity, mobility and extensibility. Oracle investigates first the capabilities of our next-generation cloud technology, built on Oracle Fusion Middleware, to create these product experiences, ranging from its simplified UI to wearable devices. We then look to leverage these innovations across our other product lines through user experience design patterns and associated development tools. Our goals are always to see a clear gain in end-user productivity and a return on our customers' investment in our applications and technologies.”

The old saying that “Time is Money!” applies here.  In fact, with Oracle Voice not only can sales people be better armed with an up-to-date view of critical information they need prior to a sales call, they also can use what usually has been downtime to “do the paperwork.”  In short, sales rightfully are becoming more cloud-centric everyday and that is time and money well spent.
