Siemens and TCS Automate Complex Engineer-to-Order Processes

By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributor

Siemens and Tata Consultancy (News - Alert) Services have teamed on automating complex Engineer-to-Order processes with the release of a new joint software and services solution called ETO2Win.

Boasting a combination of TCS' domain expertise and Siemens (News - Alert)' Rulestream software ETO2Win can automate engineering processes for manufacturers.

In addition to streamlining business processes associated with custom-built products, ETO2Win improves proposal accuracy and win rates as well as enhances the predictability of costs, margins and on-time delivery.

“This innovative software and services approach has created a comprehensive solution that reduces implementation time and risk, ultimately yielding a faster return on our customers' PLM investment and helping to improve the bottom-line,” said Caroll Jarvis, vice president, Global Alliance Sales, Siemens PLM Software.

ETO2Win successfully captures engineering knowledge and use it to automate key business processes across the enterprise.

The solution combines with Rulestream and TCS' ETO process framework and best practices to streamline the inquiry-to-quote and order-to-release processes for complex products.

This combination enables users to sell according to their engineering and manufacturing capabilities.

“The ETO2Win solution is a great example of our partnership with Siemens to deliver high value PLM solutions that provide maximum customer benefit,” said Reguraman (Regu) Ayyaswamy, global head, Engineering and Industrial Services, TCS.

Siemens was in news earlier this year when it was honored with 'Smart Metering Technology of the Year' award at the Spring European Smart Metering Awards.

The company was awarded for its pioneering solution to deploy smart meters in multi-dwelling units (MDUs).

Siemens’ development partner for this solution was Green Energy Options that worked with the company to develop a unique "shared infrastructure" solution.

This unique solution leverages a broadband over powerline (BPL) backbone integrated with Zigbee wireless radio technology that enables smart meters to be installed, commissioned and connected to a Wide Area Network gateway.
