iPatientCare eLearning Series to Highlight Importance of Documentation

By Mini Swamy, TMCnet Contributor

Clinical documentation is an important part of healthcare management and has been known to save time, improve workflows, improve patient safety and contribute in general to the financial health of healthcare organizations. With changing reforms, the need for accurate documentation appears to be more urgent, and those involved need to be educated on the consequences of untimely and inaccurate documentation.

Hence, as part of the iPatientCare 2014 eLearning Series Part II, iPatientCare, Inc., a pioneer in mHealth, has announced a session on the newly introduced features of clinical documentation. The session is directed at all healthcare providers, nurses and medical assistants who work with the providers and document patient visits.

Users will learn how to configure auto-scoring forms and how to document text on hot-spot enabled images that will help track a patient’s progress right from the beginning to end and demonstrate improvement that has taken place.

“This eLearning series will assist healthcare providers to ensure seamless documentation by using advanced features from iPatientCare EHR. In addition, it can assist them with meeting standards established by the U.S, said Sean Pandya, head, clinical decision support, iPatientCare.

These newly added features and the point-n-tap functionality makes the system user-friendly. Also, it is expected to help in producing more accurate, qualitative and quick documentation. This in turn, will enhance patient care and enable more efficient clinical workflow. Accurate documentation also helps practices to get paid in today’s healthcare system and allows eligible providers to earn incentive payments based on specific criteria.

But in order to make that happen, Pandya noted that “Providers must have high-quality tools to help improve the quality, safety and efficient delivery of patient care.”

iPatientCare’s product solutions are reportedly designed to address needs of healthcare organizations and are stated to be future-proof. These solutions are meant to ensure better patient-physician interaction and better coordination of care and decisions for successful clinical outcomes and enterprise success.

The virtual user conference on hot-spot enabled images and auto-scoring forms could be just the thing that will reinforce the fact that clinical documentation is not only the foundation of billing for clinical services but also the way to quality patient care.
