SAPREF Goes for Process Automation with Datacentrix

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

Irrespective of the type of business a company does, automation has number of benefits. It saves valuable employee time and brings down the cost of the process for which it is employed.

Even the companies in traditional business lines are realizing the benefits of automation. SAPREF, the largest crude oil refinery in southern Africa, selected Datacentrix for its automation process for a capital investment project. Three months down the line, the company has reported huge benefits.

This deployment allows SAPREF, a joint venture between Shell SA Refining and BP Southern Africa, to look for all project development documents in one place. This certainly saves the company both time and effort. The process integrity introduced in its capital investment project has already resulted in positive feedback from users. Encouraged by this, SAPREF is looking to make further electronic workflow deployments across other manual business processes.

It’s not only the end result, but also the efficiency shown in implementation of the project that has made SAPREF happy about this whole project. Datacentrix credits this good result to good teamwork and excellent technical development skills.

Datacentrix provides Business Process Management (BPM) services, necessary tools for businesses growth. BPM services increase flexibility and save time for users.

Shakeel Jhazbhay, business unit manager of Enterprise Information Management (News - Alert) (EIM) and Security Solutions at Datacentrix, said, “It provides powerful capabilities that facilitate the integration of applications with line-of-business systems and scale those applications according to an organization's needs. Prior to solution selection and implementation, a considerable amount of time was spent studying SAPREF's ICT strategy and consulting with the organization to ensure the careful selection of a ‘no-regret' solution for its electronic workflow requirements.”

Apart from the above mentioned services, the company also offers IT managed services. Recently, it signed a three-year, ZAR9 million (US$902,844) outsourcing deal with black-empowered coal mining company, Shanduka Coal.
