BT Sport’s partner Timeline (News - Alert) Television has deployed Aspera’s fasp high speed file transfer and Orchestrator workflow automation technologies for its live sport production workflow.

Located in Stratford, the production hub will feature BT (News - Alert) Sport’s complex file-based workflows which will be powered by Aspera’s orchestration system and underlying high-speed data transport technology.

Aspera (News - Alert) explained that its fasp transfer technology eliminates the fundamental shortcomings of conventional, TCP-based file transfer technologies such as FTP and HTTP which in turn leads to transfer speeds that are hundreds of times faster than FTP/HTTP. The technology delivers a guaranteed delivery time regardless of file size, transfer distance or network conditions, including transfers over satellite, wireless, and inherently long distance and unreliable international links.

Aspera Orchestrator is a web-based application and SDK platform that enables precise control over the Aspera high-performance file transfer environment. With Orchestrator, files can be directed, processed and redirected with easy-to-define rules based on an organization’s workflows and using existing IT infrastructure. The platform can also integrate seamlessly with third-party plug-ins.

BT’s new studio facility and BT Tower now have enhanced disaster recovery and full redundancy with Aspera.

Aspera says BT’s new facility will serve as a showcase of its capability to easily integrate multiple, high-volume workflows and manage the entire end-to-end processes to improve speed, performance, productivity and reliability.
