Ascend Software, a provider of enterprise business process automation and enterprise content management solutions, has released its latest SmartTouch Analytical Information Recognition (AIR) solution to eliminate the multiple product, multiple installation approach required by other solutions in the industry.

According to company officials, the biggest strength of Ascend’ business process automation solution is its ability to offer a one vendor solution that is well-integrated end to end.

The SmartTouch AIR version 2.0 processes unstructured documents, such as Accounts Payable invoices, offering exceptional out-of-the-box recognition rates. The all-in-one solution has the ability to automatically and analytically capture images, extract, recognize and process information from documents with faster through-put and superior recognition rates.

The solution includes new capabilities, such as automatic image cleanup, to produce cleaner images. Batch options eliminate the need for data entry and ensure consistent values across a group of documents. The improved solution has also reduced time-intensive exception handling dramatically.

Another feature, the AIR’s In-line learning, eliminates the need for significant manual intervention to train and retrain the software for each document format. This results in consistently high recognition rates, and so it requires fewer resources to implement and operate, company officials said.

The solution has designed integrate with Ascend’s wholly owned and developed Business Automation and Enterprise Content Management (ECM) Solution. As a result of this integration, the solution provides a flexible workflow solution for both simple and complex processing.

In short, SmartTouch AIR’s automation capabilities are intended to reduce manual efforts and headcount required for document identification, separation and data entry. Further, it allows customers to process Accounts Payable invoices without needing to set up templates or train software.
