Innotas Relies on Apigee Enterprise API to Drive Automation, Business Process Management

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

SaaS-based IT government project portfolio management (PPM (News - Alert)) provider, Innotas, is using Apigee’s Enterprise API management platform to gain visibility and control of its API strategy.

Innotas has been relying on Apigee for more than two years. Its API enables users to easily integrate its PPM solutions without systems to drive better automation and management of business processes.

"Apigee gives us a single point of visibility and control over our API," said Tim Madewell, vice president of professional services for Innotas, in a statement. "This has been critical to effectively serving our API users, protecting our platform, understanding usage, and quickly diagnosing customer problems. Additionally, the Apigee team has worked closely with Innotas as an extension to operations and customer support."

The Apigee Enterprise platform is available as hardware, a virtual appliance or a cloud-based solution. Innotas deploys the solution in a cloud environment to drive the greatest amount of scale and flexibility.

"As Innotas has grown and the use of our API increases, the Apigee team continues to provide configuration services to support our growth and expand our use and value from the Apigee product," said Lamar McMechan, operations manager for Innotas. "Customizations and upgrades have been seamless."

Visibility into who and how the API is being used is driven by Apigee’s analytics. This also allows trending over time and makes it possible for Innotas to understand use cases, how changes can affect adoption and which areas of the API make the most sense to invest in.

With the control and security capabilities delivered through the Apigee solutions, Innotas is able to weed out bad traffic, quickly debug problems, receive monitoring and alerts, as well as protect against malicious and unintentional threats.

"Innotas is a SaaS (News - Alert) industry leader using APIs to innovate and enable integration and flexible service," said Chet Kapoor, CEO of Apigee. "With a standards-based Web services offering, Innotas enables customers to meaningfully and easily integrate applications and extend its capabilities."

The Innotas API enables users to share information with third party tools, connect with legacy systems, link services together and gain mobile access to data without the traditional pain of integration into the enterprise.

Visibility is critical within the enterprise to ensure business processes are performing as expected. This integration between Innotas and Apigee has proven successful over the years of the relationship between the two companies, and the Apigee solution continues to drive measureable benefits for Innotas.
