Verizon (News - Alert) Wireless and NetMotion Wireless, which develop software to enable businesses and agencies to maintain and optimize connections to applications as their mobile workers move in and out of wireless coverage areas and across various networks, have introduced a simplified billing for mobile VPN software.
Thanks to this, Verizon Wireless business customers can now pay for NetMotion Wireless (News - Alert) Mobility XE mobile VPN software via their Verizon Wireless bills, allowing them to pay a monthly fee for the software rather than a one-time upfront licensing charge.
NetMotion Wireless offers a mobile VPN that enables mobile workers to get and stay connected regardless of the device, application or network.
"Providing customers with great network service is a priority, but giving them convenience when they do business with us is equally important," said Rose Kirk, vice president - enterprise and government distribution and operations for Verizon Wireless, in a statement.
Kirk said that for customers who are using products with approved third parties, it is especially important to make the process seamless.
"Combined billing is a convenience that can also mean improved efficiencies for customers," said Kirk.
Verizon Wireless, a joint venture of Verizon Communications and Vodafone (News - Alert), operates one of the nation's largest wireless voice and 3G data network, serving nearly 93 million customers.
Andy Willett, senior vice president of sales and marketing for NetMotion Wireless, said, that his company is pleased to expand its existing relationship with Verizon Wireless and implement this billing option for the joint customers.
Officials with NetMotion Wireless said that the Mobility XE securely enhances mobile worker productivity at some of the world's most respected organizations across multiple industries, including utilities, healthcare, communications, public safety, insurance, local government, transportation, field service and many others.
In April, Verizon Wireless announced an initiative with BL Healthcare and a number of customers and third-party providers to jointly trial next-generation solutions for the delivery of remote healthcare applications and services to patients.
Officials with Verizon Wireless said that this initiative will provide a unique approach for addressing issues associated with access to quality healthcare and rising healthcare costs.
Company officials said that the solutions will leverage the next-generation BL Healthcare remote health management platform and the secure, reliable network of Verizon, along with an extensive list of third-party providers to deliver "best of breed" applications and healthcare-related services to patients remotely.
