Webinar: RadiSys, Aricent Share LTE EPC Deployment Models and Drivers

By Marisa Torrieri, TMCnet Editor

It’s been projected that over the next decade, more than 90 percent of CDMA carriers will merge to LTE when it comes time to roll out 4G services.

Not only that, but market watchers like Juniper Research (News - Alert) predict 4G broadband will generate the likes of $70 billion in service revenues by 2014.

But with a rollout of that magnitude, a number of challenges await telecom OEMS. As competition among carriers heats up, time to market with trials/deployments of new infrastructure to increase broadband capacity and launch new mobile applications is becoming a critical concern.

Lucky for you, a dissection of these issues can be found in a Webinar and slide presentation, hosted by RadiSys and Aricent. The Webinar, which went live in November, gave a thorough overview of the both the challenges and opportunities of LTE (News - Alert) EPC deployments.

Called “LTE EPC Deployment Models & Drivers for Scalable Pre-Integrated Frameworks,” the Webinar reviewed the latest telecom trends, drivers and LTE EPC deployment models. It examined the deployment requirements for key LTE EPC elements – and reviewed technology and solution delivery models available to address these.

According to co-presenter Ritesh Aggarwal, a product line manager with Aricent (News - Alert), the biggest challenges for telecom OEMs include working with complex technology, making sure technology is scalable, development costs and the long time to market between planning to trials and deployments.

“With LTE being a new technology, building out nodes requires investment,” he said.

In addition to these challenges, listeners will be treated to a special presentation on a pre-integrated LTE platform that can resolve some of the most critical issues.

“A pre-integrated platform is all about bringing together the ‘best of breed’ products,” said Chandresh Ruparel, senior product line manager with RadiSys (News - Alert). The idea for ‘best of breed’ here is not limited to the technology or the product elements. Different vendors bring rich sets of capabilities.

In October, Hillsboro, Ore.-based RadiSys rolled out its 4G platform – ATCA 4.0 – designed to support the next generation of high-bandwidth applications.

“As the proven leader in ATCA platform deployments, RadiSys understands the time to market pressures that our TEM customers face in the next generation mobile infrastructure market, and the technical and product decisions that they need to make now to stay in front of the market,” said Anthony Ambrose, vice president and general manager, communications networks, RadiSys, in a statement. “Our fourth-generation 40G platform announcement reinforces our technology leadership that we delivered in our third-generation 10G platform, and demonstrates how we anticipate customers’ future requirements better than any other company.”
