RadiSys Reports Contact Center Market Adoption of Convedia Media Servers

By Arvind Arora, TMCnet Contributor

RadiSys (News - Alert) Corporation, a provider of advanced solutions for the communications networking and commercial systems markets, reported that an increasing number of IP contact center solutions are being deployed using its Convedia Media Server.

Convedia Media Server features real-time audio, video, and embedded fax media processing capabilities. This gives enterprises with a common, feature-rich platform that fulfills next-generation contact center business requirements.

RadiSys’ solution was recently adopted by a IP contact center service provider, an IP contact center solutions vendor, and a systems integrator that developed a custom IP contact center for a government’s tax agency in the Europe-Middle East-Africa (EMEA) region.

RadiSys has recently optimized the capabilities of Convedia Media Server by adding support for text-to-speech (TTS), automatic speech recognition (ASR), continuous presence (CP) video conferencing, and the industry’s first fully fault-tolerant capability with its N+1 media processing card redundancy feature.

Now, the Convedia media servers are also able to deploy the newly added feature, embedded fax processing, to receive and store G.711 or T.38 fax messages as well as send fax messages from data storage. More features specific to the IP Contact Center industry are planned within the next year.

David Smith, general manager of the Media Server Business Unit at RadiSys, said that since pioneering the IP media server market, the company's goal has always been to deliver robust media processing features on a common IP platform so that its partners may rapidly introduce their new and innovative services while reducing service delivery costs.

Matthias Machowinski, an analyst at Infonetics, said RadiSys’ IP media servers process a wide variety of media, and that the company has a well-established history of deployments with carriers worldwide.

INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & EXPO — the biggest and most comprehensive IP communications event of the year — is going on this week (September 16-18, 2008) in Los Angeles, California! The show features three valuable days of exhibits, conferences, and networking opportunities you can’t afford to miss.
