Embedded Planet, a provider of embedded computing and systems solutions, announced the launch of fully integrated, compact ATCA platform called aXcelent designed to speed time to market for networking, telecom, and industrial original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
Tim Van de Walle, president of Embedded Planet, said the new aXcelent MicroTCA (News - Alert) system enables their customers to reach the market more quickly with an integrated and flexible system. “We are excited to bring this platform to the market and allow our customers to focus on developing products rather than platform development,” Van de Walle added.
The aXcelent MicroTCA system consists of a 19", 1U chassis that supports six full size or three mid-size AMC modules. Its chassis supports two types of power supplies - either an AC or -48VDC power supply, two hot swappable cooling units with four push-pull fans and air filters.
The MCH supports Gigabit Ethernet on the base channel and PCIe on the fabric channels for the current version of the system, with additional fabric options being offered in the future.
The aXcelent system supports the NATView software suite for system management allowing the monitoring of all system functions and card status enabling high system maintainability and reliability.
Embedded Planet’s (News - Alert) AMC cards support PCIe as a fabric option, Gigabit Ethernet on the base channels and have been integrated with the aXcelent system giving customers a range of performance options to chose from, company officials said.
All of Embedded Planet’s AMC cards are available with a Linux, VxWorks, or Green Hills INTEGRITY BSP further simplifying product development.
The company plans to add additional features and support to the aXcelent product line in the coming months.
Embedded Planet focuses on the design, development and deployment of embedded systems engineering that allows designers to take advantage of production-tested, reusable product designs in all phases of system development. The company has been providing PowerPC based Processor (News - Alert) AMCs for several years
Earlier in 2009 Embedded Planet selected Timesys Corporation, a provider of LinuxLink, the first commercial software development framework for building custom embedded Linux based products, for a comprehensive Linux solution for their EP8572A dual-core PowerPC Advanced Mezzanine Card (AMC).
