ABBYY Unveils Recognition Server 3.0

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

As more and more documents get the digital makeover, document capture and conversion is taking on an increased importance in companies. Realizing the opportunities in this field, document recognition, data capture and linguistic software provider ABBYY has announced ABBYY Recognition Server 3.0, the latest version of its solution for document capture and optical character recognition.

ABBYY Recognition Server is designed to take care of the whole document capture process in the organization, the company stated in a press release.

With this product, paper documents or document images can be automatically converted into fully searchable electronic text suitable for business processes such as document archiving, e-discovery and enterprise search. It also facilitates automated, unattended processing which can be centrally managed and accessed from multiple points within the organization or remotely.

"Recognition Server is designed to provide easily deployable and manageable automated document conversion," explained Andrey Isaev, director of technology products for ABBYY. "Our latest enhancements make the link between document input and output more seamless. Our scanning station provides intuitive tool for inputting documents directly into Recognition Server while the 'point-and-click' indexing and new scripting capabilities for customizing separation and routing help make output documents more suitable for further processing."

With the addition of two new 'stations' to the Recognition Server package, new functionality is delivered, states the company. While new Indexing Station provides a simple, efficient way to manually extract key data from a document for quick indexing and cataloguing of document metadata, a new Scanning Station extends the solution's capabilities beyond 'back-end' processing to support also capture of documents.

Recently, the company announced that Document Genetics of Northampton, is now an ABBYY FlexiCapture 9.0 Certified Partner. Document Genetics has demonstrated expertise with ABBYY technology and an ability to work with customers to meet their data capture needs. Document Genetics joins a network of highly skilled resellers and integrators who can provide data capture solutions based on ABBYY technology as part of the Certified Partner program.
