RSA Conference Reveals New Security Solutions, Next-Gen Networking Trends

By Marisa Torrieri, TMCnet Editor

A number of telecommunications companies descended upon the RSA (News - Alert) Conference this week to check out the latest and greatest in the area of security appliance solutions and next-gen platforms.

We got a good briefing from NEI, a provider of application platforms and services for software developers and OEMS -- and a company that most certainly is making a big splash at the show.

Canton, Mass.-based is spending this week hosting a series of presentations by its technology partners, who will demonstrate innovative new security products designed to simplify and strengthen the protection of enterprise computing environments.

Henry Wong, senior staff technologist, and Jesse Sutherland, product manager, of Intel (News - Alert) will be presenting at the NEI booth. The presentations will focus on maximizing performance and energy efficiency with the Intel Xeon processor 5500 series, as well as achieving next-generation, market-driven performance/power efficiencies while complying with new ENERGY STAR (News - Alert) specifications.

Sutherland and Wong already spoke about offering world-class solutions with rack-optimized Intel Server Systems SR1600UR and SR1625UR for power-efficient applications at 1 p.m. today (for all who missed it, they’ll be speaking again, Wednesday, March 3, 1 p.m.).

For all who missed a presentation by Tom Mack, regional director of rPath, on a model-driven, version-controlled approach for automating construction, provisioning, patching and update of software systems to create a scalable and conflict-free approach to system provisioning and maintenance across physical, virtual and cloud environments, there will be additional sessions tomorrow.

For starters, Patrick Townsend, CEO of Patrick Townsend Security Solutions, will unveil a new encryption key management product called Alliance Key Manager, and discuss how the company leveraged NEI to roll out platform deployments tomorrow at noon.

Later on, Sunil Bhargava, CTO of Intellitactics, will be presenting innovative security information and event management technologies that provide cost-effective compliance, proactive threat management and enterprise-wide asset protection at 2 p.m.

Then, Eddie Schwartz, CSO of NetWitness (News - Alert), will highlight new ways to develop and leverage live network-based threat intelligence to perform real-time network forensics and provide maximum visibility into pre-zero-day and blended attacks at 3 p.m.

Dell (News - Alert) and NEI will address how the companies are working together to customize Dell standard products to fit new applications and new markets, with a focus on security. For more information, visit NEI in Booth #2239.
