In today’s fast-paced business world where time does indeed mean money, even a one-day delay in a needed upgrade can be prohibitively expensive. Factor in a global economy where supplies might be time-zones away, and you could have a real problem. Fortunately, progressive companies are taking steps now to forestall such issues going forward.
A case in point is UNICOM (News - Alert) Engineering, which has just announced its newest ‘Forward-Stocking Location’ (FSL) in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
According to the company, FSLs are an invaluable logistics tool when considering support on a global scale. “FSLs provide a method for spare parts and systems to be stocked in a depot location within select countries for immediate dispatch without the impact of import delays on international shipments,” UNICOM said in a statement. “With FSLs in Brazil, India and China, UNICOM Engineering now offers coverage to some of the most difficult countries in the world to do business. Currently, UNICOM Engineering has access to 700+ FSLs around the world and as new regions are identified, the company can readily allocate resources to open new supply channels.”
From both a business and logistics perspective, such a move makes a lot of sense. New services such as this provide immediate dispatch of parts without the import delays of international shipments in highly regulated countries.
“With customers operating throughout the world, it is imperative that we respond to their needs as quickly as possible,” observed Jeff Hudgins (News - Alert), vice president of marketing for UNICOM Engineering. “UNICOM’s growing list of FSLs reflects our commitment to delivering exceptional business continuity for our clients and partners through a comprehensive logistics program that is a natural extension of their business operations.”
This newest FSL follows UNICOM’s recent expansion into Prague in the Czech Republic, in late 2014. The move into Brazil also demonstrates the company’s commitment to expanding its coverage area to support customers worldwide; next up are planned FSL locations in regions such as Spain and Turkey. These facilities enable faster delivery of components for repair or servicing, and by stocking replacement parts within these countries, UNICOM is helping its customers enhance their reputations for responsive customer service.
