The massive amount of data being created by powerful, smart mobile devices and faster wireless broadband technology is pushing network operators to improve the infrastructure in order to meet the market challenges they're facing. Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) technology is seen as a solution that can provide lower capital and operational expenses while delivering faster time-to-market for new and exciting services. GENBAND, a developer of multimedia and cloud communications solutions, is joining the Intel (News - Alert) Network Builders program in order to access its complete reference architecture library housing a wide range of proven solutions that can be readily implemented in production environments.
The Intel Network Builders program is designed to spark innovation, increase awareness and accelerate deployment of software-defined networking (SDN) and network functions virtualization (NFV) solutions. Intel is focusing on building and simplifying the infrastructure to improve efficiency, reduce development efforts, advance open networking standards, increase interoperability, networking computing and storage, while at the same time increasing security.
"We are delighted to join the Intel Network Builders program and help accelerate NFV market solutions that will enable operators to effectively evolve their networks to gain service velocity and maintain their dominant position in the communications value chain," said B.G. Kumar, Chief Product Officer at GENBAND (News - Alert).
GENBAND currently supports NFV capabilities across several of its line of products, including EXPERiUS, QUANTiX, SPiDR and NUViA with the commitment to evolve all of its portfolio solutions toward that path. As a member of the IETF NFV Industry Specification Group (ISG), GENBAND is part of the progression of the NFV movement with a pledge to furthering the cloud-ready solutions it provides to NFV requirements.
Its NFV solution delivers real-time communications with multiple, high-performance Virtual Network Functions (VNFs) and an intelligent orchestration framework for the VNFs for seamless interoperability into a wider cloud infrastructure and ecosystem chosen by network operators.
GENBAND's smart networking solutions are used by service providers and enterprises in over 80 countries by delivering scalability, security, profitability and efficiency in an increasingly competitive global telecom environment.
"Our goal is to help operators realize the benefits of NFV by working with leading technology providers, so we welcome GENBAND to the Intel Network Builders program. By fostering collaboration, the Intel Network Builders program seeks to increase ecosystem alignment, leading to the design of world-class solutions,” said Renu Navale, Manager of the Intel Network Builders program.
