For application deployment solutions provider UNICOM, which counts companies such as Intel among its partners, the earnings announcement recently from another of its partners, RadiSys (News - Alert), must have been good news.
RadiSys issued an update on its FY14 earnings on Thursday, June 5. The company gave EPS guidance of $0.10-0.20 for the period, compared to the Thomson Reuters (News - Alert) consensus EPS estimate of $0.17.
The company issued revenue guidance of $200-220 million, compared to the consensus revenue estimate of $209.35 million. RadiSys also updated its Q2 guidance to $(0.11)-0.01 EPS.
RadiSys reported ($0.14) earnings per share for the quarter, passing the analysts’ consensus estimate of ($0.12) by $0.02. The company reported revenue of $43.80 million for the quarter, compared to the consensus estimate of $43.30 million.
Yet, RadiSys’s revenue was down 35.8 percent year-over-year.
The earnings news sent RadiSys trading up 0.62 percent during mid-day trading on Thursday, hitting $3.22. The stock had a trading volume of 245,247 shares.
The company has had a 52-week low of $2.02 and a 52 week high of $5.20, and it has a 50-day moving average of $3.47 and a 200-day moving average of $3.00. Overall, RadiSys has a market capitalization of $94.9 million.
A number of recent research reports have focused on the firm. Needham & Company LLC upgraded shares of RadiSys from a “hold” rating to a “buy” rating in a February research note, for instance.
“[Despite] much of the progress we have made in key customer trials in our improved operational performance and our ability to cost effectively deliver technology, our customer’s value has been masked by the revenue challenges we have highlighted over the last year and a half,” noted president and CEO of RadiSys, Brian Bronson, during an investor conference call.
“While this largely remains true within our first quarter results,” he added, “there are some early indications of our progress in transforming RadiSys. In deferred revenue, which is a leading indicator of our progress in shaping next generation products, our balance is up sequentially from year-end by over 30 percent and is mainly driven by MRF product shipments in support of voice-over-LTE (News - Alert) trials and early commercial deployments.”
RadiSys is a provider of embedded wireless infrastructure solutions for telecom, aerospace, defense and public safety applications, and UNICOM (News - Alert) has long partnered with the company.
