Businesses may find Lenovo (News - Alert)'s ThinkPad 10 appealing for the memory size, battery life, light weight of 1.3 pounds, Atom quad-core and availability of either Windows 8.1 or 8.1 Pro, and that’s what Lenovo is hedging its bets on.
The Lenovo ThinkPad 10 is positioned as a premium 10-inch tablet that is primarily meant for business users that prefer a full PC experience while offering the same set of portability as a tablet.
Our new ThinkPad 10 tablet marries business optimized features with a unique multimode design to offer an exceptional computing experience that allows users to work, play and create in virtually any environment,” said Luis Hernandez, vice president and general manager, ThinkPad, Lenovo.
As mobile computing evolves, organizations are looking for business-class mobile computing devices that can run a complete range of Windows applications. Typically, tablets have been viewed as companion devices to PCs but the mobile market is in need of a tablet with experiences that are not compromised in a computer era.
The ThinkPad 10 can be used as a tablet but with a few additional accessories, and can also be used in laptop, desktop and stand modes, so that users can work the way they need to depending on their activity, which is attractive for the mobile workforce.
Lenovo has made the ThinkPad 10 capable of being used in the enterprise setting by enabling user-management features. In addition, Lenovo Services offers additional warranties, damage protection and priority technical support.
The ThinkPad also features VPN access control and app deployment management. Users can blacklist applications to prevent installation of unwanted apps, a necessity in a BYOD era.
"Customers want a versatile experience that adapts to their way of life and offers uncompromised productivity whether in the office or on the move," said Hernandez.
The ThinkPad 10 will be available starting in June from Lenovo’s online store and selected retailers. The cheapest model rings in at $599.
