Aculab (News - Alert), a provider of telephony products, has formed a partnership with Dell OEM Solutions to develop an NEBS (network equipment building system) compliant server platform for its GroomerII gateway appliance.
The GroomerII gateway appliance is used for integrating Internet-based telephony with traditional telephony systems. Meanwhile, the Dell (News - Alert) PowerEdge R720t server, equipped with Intel Xeon processors E5-2600 series, is NEBS certified for use by telecom companies.
The partnership with Dell looks to provide Aculab with server lifecycle control and a fully NEBS compliant platform, which Aculab explained is critical for telecom customers in the U.S. that use GroomerII to support 911 emergency services or to handle calls originating in fixed and mobile Signalling System 7 (SS7) networks.
As a result, customers will benefit from faster lead times, largely due to the combination of processing power and support for NEBS standards.
Chris Brown, engineering and quality manager at Aculab, said, “When a Dell PowerEdge R720t server arrives, we only have to carry out a small amount of work to get it ready to ship. We are saving around 48 hours per server with Dell OEM (News - Alert) Solutions, because there is significantly less for us to do.”
Brown explained that the server platform allows Aculab to provide its customers with the best product and level of service possible. Also included in the agreement is access to Dell’s IT Lifecycle Management Service, which will work closely with Aculab to manage any changes to server components that may affect Aculab software, ensuring customers benefit from continuity of performance.
