Fortinet (News - Alert), a provider of network security appliances, recently announced a major expansion to its FortiGate Unified Threat Management (UTM) product line.

Fortinet pioneered the integrate wireless Access point Controller and has now redefined UTM again with fully integrated switching capability," said John Maddison, vice president of marketing for Fortinet, in a statement.
"With no less than ten new or upgraded FortiGate products being introduced today, we're providing the most scalable platform to meet every customer deployment need," Maddison added.
The FortiGate-200D series provides a mid-range network security platform designed for branch offices and SMB customers, while the FortiGate-140D series offers high port density solutions ideal for branch office network consolidation. Finally, the FortiGate-30D series is a compact network security appliance that features plug-and-play simplicity to support rapid deployment.
With new networking and performance innovations, the new FortiGate UTM comes with the advantage of FortiOS which is a security-hardened, purpose-built Operating System that is the foundation of all FortiGate network security platforms.
FortiOS 5 delivers a multi-layered approach to dealing with today's most dangerous security threats, said the company.
Configuration options include the following:
- FW - includes high-speed firewall and VPN
