Oracle (News - Alert) recently revealed it is experiencing a significant rise in Oracle Database Appliance systems deployment worldwide.
According to the company, more than 1,000 appliances are currently being used by customers spread all over the globe. The database appliance is highlighted as a complete package of software, server, storage and networking solutions that is designed to help businesses manage their valuable business data and applications.
Oracle has now enhanced the database appliance with virtualization capabilities, allowing customers to quickly deploy complete, highly available solution appliances. The new Database Appliance X3-2, featuring an optional virtualized platform built on Oracle VM, provides organizations with even greater storage functions and improved performance.
Additionally, the Oracle Database Appliance can be deployed in a capacity on-demand software licensing model, allowing businesses to align IT spend with business growth. Organizations can easily scale from two to 32 processor core licenses without any hardware upgrades, so they can reduce upfront capital expenditures and pay only for the resources needed for their business.
The solution can also be deployed to merge databases on a single server, reducing data center footprint and cost. It can easily support data workloads in remote locations or branch offices that need to meet regional compliance and privacy guidelines.
Another advantage of this database appliance is that independent software vendors (ISVs) and customers can rapidly deploy a complete solution in a single, highly-available appliance. The robust appliance leverages virtualization to support simple deployment and maintenance of both the Oracle database and applications.
“Since its introduction, the Oracle Database Appliance has provided businesses a completely new way to deploy, maintain and support Oracle Databases,” said Sohan DeMel, vice president, Product Strategy and Business Development, Oracle, in a statement. “The rapid adoption of the Oracle Database Appliance underscores its diverse use cases and the opportunity for organizations of all sizes to utilize engineered systems.”
