Fortinet (News - Alert), a provider of security appliance deployment solutions, has formed a partnership with Masergy Communications, a provider of secure, virtualized network services, to launch a new Internet management service based on Fortinet's enterprise network security appliances.
Masergy was originally seeking a network-based firewall option that would give them the flexibility to scale with their customers’ platforms.
"We couldn't be happier with the Fortinet deployment,” said Andy Singleton, director of Product Development at Masergy. “We're adding value to our customer base by giving them what they need and we have been able to consolidate security functionality into single appliances."
Fortinet's FortiGate security appliance deployment solution ranked more highly over competitive offerings from the industry because of its ease-of-use, consolidated security platform, robustness, lower total cost of ownership and more robust security functionality than that of the other vendors.
FortiGate appliances are located in Masergy’s strategic Point of Presence (POPs) around the world. They not only provide firewall, SSL and IPSec VPN protection but have also been expanded to include Web content filtering and application control.
With Fortinet's VDOM technology in place, Masergy can easily add new customers to the network without having to deploy a new appliance onsite. A single appliance can have up to 250 virtual domains. Because every customer has its own virtual domain, network security policies for specific customers can be created and changed to meet the customer’s needs.
“MSPs are moving more towards a cloud-based network security solution and Masergy is the perfect example of this," added Kendra Krause (News - Alert), vice president of channel sales at Fortinet. "The FortiGate appliances allow MSSPs the network visibility and control that they need to provide their customer with the highest level of security."
Recently, Fortinet unveiled its revamped FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer and FortiMail appliance deployment platforms. The new platforms have been designed for SMBs and enterprise branch office customers in need of more scalable device management, security event analysis and e-mail filtering capabilities.
