Security appliance deployment comes in two varieties: a physical security appliance and a virtual appliance. With the growing popularity of cloud computing, virtual appliance deployment solutions have gained significant popularity. However, physical security appliances still dominate within the telecommunications industry.
Recently Aimetis, a provider of IP video management solutions, unveiled the Aimetis E7000 Series Physical Security Appliance which has been designed to reduce the cost of IP video deployment.
The new security appliance deployment platform is an all-in-one appliance that combines video analytics, video management and business intelligence into one network device, according to company officials.
“The Aimetis E7000 appliance builds on Aimetis’ initiative to simplify and reduce the cost of IP video deployment," said Marc Holtenhoff, CEO, Aimetis, in a statement. "The solution is easy to install and less complex than other IP-based systems, and the multiple storage options enable flexibility and availability at a value that is unique in the industry."
Aimetis E7000 is the successor of Aimetis E3200 Series. It extends the functionality and small footprint design to include 8- and 16- channel options. The solution also features broad mobility functionality, supporting various devices and platforms including Android (News - Alert), iOS and Blackberry OS.
Another important feature of this security appliance deployment platform is that it features flexible storage options (2 and 4 TB internal, eSATA, NAS, edge storage, and more), offering redundant storage capabilities.
Additionally, the appliance delivers H.264 video streaming capability. With high processing power using Celeron and i7, the platform enables analytics and video management. The compact, fanless appliance is of the size of an Encoder, so it can be used in applications in challenging environments or places with space constraints.
The 2TB Aimetis E7020 ships with 8 camera licenses, and is available for $2,900, while the 4TB version, Aimetis E7040, has 16 camera licenses and is offered for an MSRP of $3,950 US. The E7020A / E7040A offers the same storage and license capacity, but includes video analytics on all cameras and ranges from $9,500 to $16,900.
