NEI Explains LEAD System, Telecom Appliance Deployment Platform Advantages

By David Sims, TMCnet Contributing Editor

In terms of telecom platform deployment, say officials of NEI (News - Alert), companies like Motorola and Alcatel Lucent “have turned to” NEI for appliance deployment.

“Many telecom equipment manufacturers struggle to bear the cost and burden of developing and supporting a mix of technologies. And doing so they lose precious time, divert valuable resources, and deploy products that don’t live up to their expectations,” company officials say in a promotional video.

There’s a good reason they do so, too. Telecommunications moves fast, and keeping pace with the likes of 4G wireless and the mobile Internet isn't easy.

As a result, company officials say, they developed the LEAD (Lifecycle Engine for Application Deployment) system to solve challenges involved in increasing the speed of application deployment to market. The system, as described by NEI officials, encompass the entire lifecycle, and is supported by what they say is “a disciplined approach to program management.”

Last month TMC’s Deepika Mala wrote that Mavenir, a vendor of mobile infrastructure products for LTE (News - Alert) communications services, chose NEI’s frame-level Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture integration services and A13000 R2 platform, to provide customers with converged voice, video and messaging services on the Mavenir mOne Convergence (News - Alert) Platform.

There are many advantages of the LEAD system, according to company officials, which include solution design. NEI designs products from single platforms up to a complete frame of multi-vendor equipment for application performance. From project inception, NEI provides design and engineering services meeting industry and international compliance regulations.

System integration occurs when full manufacturing and integration capabilities including frame integration and thermal testing are backed by robust process controls to ensure predictable repeatable results.

Application management is when software is developed to deliver automated updates, monitor system health, perform back-ups and manage deployed appliances.

Services that are designed to ease the transport and inventory management of your products are called global logistics, and support and maintenance that extend a product life span are also included in this product.
