Symantec (News - Alert) officials say the company is reselling appliances to be deployed in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar through three of its distributors: Mindware, Tech Access and Aptec.
"Through our existing channel, we are pleased to announce that we are reselling through three of our distributors and resellers, all of whom are being trained by Symantec engineers," explained Ramzi Itani, Regional Channel & Alliance Director, MENA, Symantec.
It’s part of Symantec's recent appliance deployment strategy of providing customers with what Symantec officials say is “a flexible and easy way to deploy delivery model for data protection, storage management and security” products.
As part of the recent strategy launch, Symantec set up proof of concept centers in various locations across the region. The purpose, company officials say, is to “show customers they have a choice in the way they purchase and deploy software by offering a new appliance form-factor.”
Company officials say Symantec has already run “several successful sessions” with financial and government entities “to highlight how they can reduce their overall costs” through the appliances. "During the past three months we have been successful in reselling over 150 terabytes of capacity to customers in the UAE, Saudi and Qatar."
Earlier this month TMC (News - Alert) had the news that Symantec FileStore, is to boost storage infrastructure for customers.
Regional Director for Africa at Symantec, Gordon Love said that the new solution would enable organizations to build scalable, high-performance file-based storage services for their enterprise, including private and public clouds.
FileStore, Love said, has already earned ground-breaking results for file serving in Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation (SPEC) tests, which far exceeds the current benchmarks.
