Compuware and Gigamon Partner to Help IT Organizations Improve Application Performance

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Technology performance company Compuware and Gigamon, a global provider of intelligent data access networking, have announced a strategic partnership to help IT organizations to ease network data access, while also improving application performance.

With the combination of Compuware’s Vantage and Gigamon’s (News - Alert) GigaVUE technology, IT organizations will have the tools they need to optimize network service quality. These organizations will also be empowered to improve network and application performance issue diagnosis and reporting.

"This combined solution will greatly enhance the ability to proactively manage the performance of applications," said Kevin Jablonski, vice president, marketing and business development, Gigamon, in a company statement. "With the amount of data cycling through an organization's networked infrastructure and application performance expectations heightened, the pressure put upon IT assets and the team that manages them is paramount. We are very happy to be partnering with a market leader like Compuware (News - Alert) to provide a joint solution that will help these teams across the world."

The GigaVUE platform is designed to aggregate the data points of interest, filter traffic over the network, and then deliver the “wanted” traffic to Compuware Vantage. This approach creates a completely streamlined process for moving data for team members in IT operations, security, analysis and even network engineers.

In taking such an approach with data distribution, these team members gain access to indisputable evidence that can be used to proactively diagnose the networks’ health without implementing any kind of configuration or change management.

According to Kimberly King, Compuware vice president, channels and alliances, IT organizations are searching for ways to improve the performance of enterprise and Internet applications operating on their networks. With the Compuware and Gigamon partnership, these IT organizations can simplify data collection and effectively manage data traffic flows.

King went on to note that the combination of the two key players will enable customers to rapidly access critical information on application performance from the end user’s perspective. The two companies will work together to provide their customers with the most advanced technology so they can continue to productively and successfully deliver applications.

In other Compuware news, TMCnet recently featured a report on the company’s efforts to help customers embrace the cloud. TMCnet’s Erin Harrison sat down with Mark Hillman, vice president of strategy and product management at Compuware, to get an idea of what the company has to offer and how they bring value to the market.
