NEI, a provider of application platforms and appliance deployment services for software developers, OEMs and service providers, announced that it has expanded its reach in telecommunications market by developing a portfolio of customized solutions based on Dell PowerEdge technology.
According to a press release, NEI designed and built the customized solutions to address the high availability and performance requirements of the telecommunications market, while achieving greater energy efficiency.
“NEI has been working closely with Dell (News - Alert) to support its expanding footprint in the telecommunications market,” said Jeff Hudgins, vice president of marketing for NEI. “NEI is able to provide unique value by extending the PowerEdge platforms to position them to meet the demanding high-reliability, battery back-up and NEBS requirements of server farms and telecommunications central office environments.”
The new portfolio of NEI-manufactured Dell-based solutions include DC-Powered E-2710, DC-Powered S-2510, and NEBS-Certified N-2710.
The DC-Powered E-2710 is a Dell PowerEdge R710 platform. Modified for DC-power operation, the new open standard E-2710 features Intel’s (News - Alert) Xeon 5600 series microprocessor. Delivering the speed, computing power and flexibility the market demands for green-compliant data center and carrier-class central office technologies, the platform dynamically scales power usage to the workload to achieve greater energy efficiency.
The S-2510 is a DC-powered version of Dell’s R-510 2U storage platform. Designed for mission-critical security, storage, networking and communications applications, the storage platform utilizes Intel’s Xeon 5600 series processors in combination with state-of-the-art power optimization technologies to achieve greater energy efficiency than previous generations. Ideal for applications that require high performance, expansion and storage coupled with efficient power consumption, the open-standard S-2510 is storage scalable up to 24 TB. It also has up to four PCIe slots.
The N-2710 is a DC-powered NEBS Level 3 certified carrier-grade rack mount server with enhanced cooling, rails, bezel and mechanical provisioning for seismic conditions. This NEBS-Certified server delivers dual socket support for Intel Xeon 5600 Series Processors and combines high performance with power efficiency to deliver improved performance-per-watt over previous generation rack-mount servers.
In addition, the N-2710 is tailored for the demanding telco central office environment, as well as highly available data centers and enterprise networks. It also allows VARS, ISVs, NEMs, and OEMs to bring lower-cost communications solutions and services to market.
Officials with NEI said that all the three new systems in the portfolio fully support Dell’s Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller (iDRAC) for remote systems management.
"The Dell-NEI technical cooperation has allowed Dell to focus on the ongoing development of its advanced platform suite while expanding its available market and shortening the time to delivery of competitive -48 volt solutions," Hudgins said.
