NEI Intros New Server for NEBS Product Line

By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor

NEI, a provider of appliance deployment solutions, has announced the latest addition to its Network Equipment Building Systems (NEBS) product line.

The new offering, the AC-specified N-1500 R2 platform, has received NEBS Level 3 certification and was created in response to demands for high reliability long life deployment in AC-powered environments.

Level 3 certification is the highest for NEBS compliance and validates a product as "operationally ready for deployment in a carrier's network." The certification is granted after extensive environmental and safety and reliability testing.

"To serve the growing international market for highly reliable, long-life platforms in AC-powered environments, NEI wisely invested the time and money to design, evaluate and run the N-1500 R2 AC version through NEBS Level 3 testing," said Jeff Hudgins, vice president of marketing, NEI.

"The result is a fully certified solution that enables TEMs to address new and emerging market opportunities and data center applications that do not have the infrastructure to support DC systems."

The new platform provides Telecommunication Equipment Manufacturers (TEMs) with more choices and opportunities as well as improved time to market. It also comes with a dual or quad core Intel (News - Alert) Xeon processor and up to 24 GB of memory and three hot-swap drives as well as a full height / length PCI-X or PCIe slot.

Also, to help customers with maintenance and deployment, the company offers services for reliable, fast response, troubleshooting and technical support.

"The N-1500 R2 is impressive from both a functionality and performance point-of-view," said Eric Heikkila, director, embedded hardware and systems, VDC Research.

"Having met NEBS' rigorous operational and environmental tests, the N-1500 R2 is poised to allow VARs, ISVs, network equipment manufacturers and OEMs to deploy robust, long-life communications solutions with value-add services at a lower price point by reducing time-to-market and maximizing return on investment."
