Envivio (News - Alert), a provider of live and on-demand multi-screen IP video processing and delivery solutions, has launched the new higher density 4Caster G4 encoding appliance for deploying the highest quality TV services to the home.
The new 4Caster G4 encoding appliance is designed for the Envivio Muse software-based encoder family and boasts a high performance computing (HPC) system that offers 6 times more density when compared to the current platform. The new 4Caster G4 delivers up to 72 SD or 12 HD channels per 2RU chassis and also comes with potential density improvements.
The 4Caster G4 is an ideal appliance for the deployment of TV services to the home and even supports other devices such as tablets or smartphones, either immediately or later in their deployment cycle.
The new encoding appliance also comes with a power-efficient design, flexible multi-node configuration and robust features to reduce capex and opex for operators. These features, combined with the flexibility and video quality of Muse software-based encoding, support the most demanding broadcast TV services, dense head ends and multi-screen distribution, all at the same time.
4Caster G4 supports next generation codecs, such as HEVC, and can significantly reduce power consumption and rack space requirements. By supporting a wide range of interfaces (IP, ASI and SD/HD-SDI), redundant power supplies and hot-swappable nodes, the 4Caster G4 appliance is ideal for deployment in broadcast, cable, satellite and telco environments.
“Envivio 4Caster G4 is the most powerful encoding platform that we have ever offered," said Julien Signès, president and CEO of Envivio. “With this high performance system, we are providing a broader range of interfaces, the largest number of output formats and the option of high quality or high density configurations.”
Unlike hardware-based compression solutions that require separate platforms to address high quality, high density or multi-screen and traditional TV requirements, Muse Live and 4Caster G4 provide this flexibility within a single system.
4Caster G4 is available now and has already been selected by multiple operators worldwide. In fact, the company cites more than 300 content and service providers around the globe have already selected Envivio to power their multi-screen and broadcast TV services.
