Appliance Deployment to Pave the Way for OEM Success
By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor
In this “always-on” economy, companies are constantly searching for ways to drive efficiency, while remaining in compliance with industry regulations and protecting the network. Fortunately, companies like NEI (News - Alert) are on hand to help companies manage compliance and secure the network infrastructure and critical information assets with appliance deployment.
A recent example underscores the importance of appliance deployment and how this function serves to make life easier for the OEM. NEI demonstrated its market value for Trustwave, a company determined to launch a new suite of Security and Information Event Management (SIEM) appliances.
To reach an untapped market and acquire new business without changing its approach to doing business, Trustwave turned to NEI and Dell (News - Alert) OEM Solutions for assistance with appliance deployment. As a result of this strategic partnership, Trustwave was able to launch its products within nine months.
This appliance deployment partnership also benefitted the company by enabling the sale of new products on a scale of generating tens of millions of dollars in revenue. A global support structure was also created to meet custom service-level agreements.
Trustwave reported an experience nothing short of a smooth transition to next-generation Intel (News - Alert) servers, while in-house engineers were able to stay focused on current software development.
According to Glen O’Donnell, senior analyst at Forrester (News - Alert) Research, software providers today are searching for anything that can simplify life. The typical high-mix and high-change IT environments demand solutions that remove complexity and deliver out-of-the-box value. Robust appliance deployment makes that possible.
Charlie McPhail, a sales engineer with Dell OEM (News - Alert) Solutions, shared, “With complexity on the rise, Dell OEM Solutions is all about enabling simplicity. If there is one word that sums up our value proposition, it’s simplify. We are all about lowering the barriers that can prevent rapid adoption, lifecycle value, and time to market.”
He added, “Integration partners like NEI bring a more streamlined, cradle-to-grave methodology to the customer engagement. Together we offer a more complete suite of engineering support, manufacturing resources, global logistics, and lifecycle maintenance services that deliver effective partner experiences and help ISVs like Trustwave deploy more profitably.”In working with NEI and Dell, Trustwave recognized where its core strengths delivered value and where the company needed to turn to other industry experts to expedite time to market for greater profits. In short, this appliance deployment focus made life easier for this OEM, while helping to drive long-term success.
