NEI Helps Intellitactics Develop SAFE Security Appliances

By Eve Sullivan, TMCnet Editor

Intellitactics SAFE, a new product line of security appliances for security organizations interested in log management, compliance and decreasing the number of security- and compliance-related incidents, has been unveiled.

Simple-to-deploy and easy-to-use, Intellitactics SAFE appliances enable every organization to achieve best-in-class results, whether their focus is audit-worthy reports, extreme logging or operational efficiency.

To meet market requirements for the SAFE appliances, Intellitactics partnered with appliance vendor NEI of Canton, MA.

“Working with Intellitactics to develop the appliance platform for the Intellitactics SAFE appliances gave NEI an opportunity to do what we do best – understand the client’s business objectives and develop the best appliance platform to exceed their customers’ expectations,” said Hugh Kelly, senior vice president of marketing with NEI.

“For the SAFE appliances, Intellitactics is taking advantage of the latest hardware advances and chose to embed NEI’s proprietary management capabilities and our appliance-certified OS to ensure SAFE’s availability, reliability and security.”

The first two appliances are SAFE LP, offering complete logging plus event management in one appliance, and SAFE LA, which simplifies the collection of logs from anywhere and forwards logs to other SAFE appliances or to the company’s enterprise security management solution, Intellitactics Security Manager (ISM).

Prior to this announcement, the company announced three new channel partners in North America and released a story on the company’s new active integration and response (AIR) technology, which is rapidly expanding the size of its eco (News - Alert)-system. With this new product direction, Intellitactics is stepping into the broader market with a new business model.

“By offering a diverse suite of products, each with its own complement of valuable functionality, Intellitactics is now poised to deliver SIEM solutions to organizations previously overlooked or underserved by the SIEM market,” said Scott Crawford, research director of the security and risk management practice with Enterprise Management Associates. “We think Intellitactics will see success with this new business model that showcases Intellitactics’ thought leadership in SIEM product development and delivery.”

The SAFE appliances deliver stand-alone capability or can be hierarchically deployed when security management is shared between remote locations and headquarters. Each appliance aims to increase accessibility to SIEM, but discards the one size fits all approach of other vendors.

Intellitactics SAFE appliances provide plug-and-play logging and logging plus event management appliances that stand alone or can be combined in a hierarchical deployment for organizations with distributed management of security. SAFE appliances are built to military standards and can be securely managed through a web-based graphical interface.

“For the last few years, many companies have been making do with logging appliances that simply collected and stored logs and found themselves spending many hours and a lot of money on products promising to expose logs with meaningful data. Logs serve a useful purpose, but we wanted the SAFE appliances to deliver an improved result,” said Sunil Bhargava, chief technology officer for Intellitactics.

“Because it’s an appliance and because the ‘know how’ is in the box, every organization can be confident that they can implement event management in a way that best fits their environment and reap the benefits of effective risk management.”
